Traveling soon? Here’s how to navigate ATL like a pro

    Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport

    By Raylyn Rivers

At Hartsfield-Jackson, we understand that traveling through the Airport can be stressful. Things don’t always go as planned — gates change, flights get delayed or canceled, and unexpected issues can arise.

But the good news? We’re here to help.

Whether you’re flying out for vacation or picking up a loved one, knowing what to expect before you arrive can make all the difference. Being prepared helps you move through ATL more efficiently and minimizes stress along the way.

We asked Airport employees to share their best advice — and they delivered. Below are five helpful tips for navigating ATL, along with five universal travel tips that will help you, a friend or a family member fly like a pro.

Let’s get you ready to travel with confidence.

5 Tips for Navigating ATL Like a Pro

    1. Arrive early — seriously.
Hartsfield-Jackson is one of the busiest airports in the world. To avoid stress, plan to arrive two to three hours before your flight, especially during peak travel seasons and holidays. Arriving early helps ensure you don’t miss your flight.
    2. Use the Plane Train.
Need to get from one concourse to another quickly? Take the Plane Train. This automated train connects all concourses and runs through the Transportation Mall. Just follow the signs — it’s the fastest way to move through ATL.
    3. Check security wait times.
Security wait times can vary depending on the checkpoint. Check real-time updates on the MyTSA app or at ATL.com. Knowing what to expect can help you plan ahead and move more efficiently.
    4. Know your concourse.
ATL has seven concourses — T, A, B, C, D, E and F. After checking in, confirm your concourse and gate. It’s easy to confuse terminals and concourses, so double-check before heading to your gate.
    5. Try local favorites.
Skip the usual fast food and explore ATL’s local eats. Favorites like Paschal’s (Southern soul food) and Grindhouse Killer Burgers offer a taste of home right in the Airport.

  • ATL launches online store with signature tee

ATL launches online store with signature tee

    By Raylyn Rivers

If you’ve ever walked through Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and spotted someone rocking a “This Is My Airport” T-shirt, you’re not alone in wondering, “Where can I get one of those?”

Now, for a limited time, you finally can.

Shop@ATL, the Airport’s new online merchandise store, just launched in celebration of its 100th anniversary and it’s more than just a store, it’s a love letter to the city of Atlanta, its people, and the global travelers who pass through every day.

The pop-up shop went live earlier this month and features a wide range of items celebrating the Airport’s Centennial and its identity as the world’s busiest airport. From shirts and hats to mugs, baby onesies, and pet gear, Shop@ATL allows travelers and locals alike to proudly rep ATL.

“One of the most iconic things we have as an ad specialty piece is the ‘This Is My Airport’ T-shirt,” said Elise Durham, assistant general manager for Marketing and Communications at ATL. “People love that. This city has a flair and flavor that’s somehow reflected in that very simplistic T-shirt. It celebrates how much we ride for our city here.”

The idea for a merch site had been floating around for years, largely due to the popularity of the “This Is My Airport” shirt. Employees often asked (and were often asked) where to buy it, but there was never an official option.

Now, Shop@ATL offers the iconic tee in styles for men, women, kids, toddlers, babies and pets.

In addition to the iconic tee, the store also features limited-edition ATL100 merchandise designed to commemorate the world’s busiest and most efficient airport’s century of service and innovation.

That sense of pride, Durham explained, is what sparked the launch of Shop@ATL.

“The e-commerce site has been years in the making,” said Monica Pope, marketing project manager at ATL. “It was launched to offer exclusive and highly sought-after merchandise to employees, family, friends, the aviation community, and now, anyone wanting to celebrate the Centennial with us.”

“We have an international audience. We’re the busiest airport in the world,” Durham said. “With this being an e-commerce store, we did that specifically to reach the world. People from all over the world come through Atlanta.”

Whether you’re an ATL employee, a frequent flyer who calls the Airport a second home, or someone who just appreciates a good tee with meaning, Shop@ATL is for you.

Shop the full collection at shopatl.com — but hurry, the pop-up is only live through July 18.

Sky-High Romance: The Best Date Spots at Hartsfield-Jackson

    By: Jennifer Ogunsola Walters

Going on dates in an airport may seem rather unusual, but for some, it’s exactly this unpredictability (or spontaneity) that makes their connection thrive. For couples in long-distance relationships, or those whose lives are in perpetual motion, the hustle and bustle of an airport becomes a backdrop to their love story. Amid an airport’s constant motion and the steady rhythm of overhead announcements, couples find pockets of intimacy, transforming fleeting moments into lasting and cherished memories.

At ATL, the possibilities for these moments are endless. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is more than just a gateway to the world, it’s a destination where love can flourish in the most unexpected of settings. With over 300 award-winning options to shop, dine, and explore, ATL transforms from a mere transit point into a canvas for creating unforgettable memories. Whether you’re reconnecting with your partner after time apart, stealing a moment together before a long journey, or simply celebrating the here and now, the Airport’s unique atmosphere adds a layer of excitement to your date.

In a recent poll conducted on our Instagram, we asked our followers if they had ever had a romantic dinner at an airport. The results were telling: 20 respondents shared that they had experienced a wonderful dinner date, while 57 were intrigued by the idea and would give it a try. On the flip side, 54 voters preferred more traditional locations for their romantic dinners, and four indicated that while they had tried it, it wasn’t something they would do again. These responses reflect a diverse range of experiences and attitudes, but they also highlight a growing curiosity about the unique possibilities that airport dining can offer.

This summer, why not let the world’s busiest airport be the setting for your love story? Imagine sharing a meal in one of its top-tier restaurants, surrounded by the energy of global travelers and the anticipation of new adventures. It’s here that Ecco, One Flew South, and Cat Cora redefine what it means to dine at an airport. These culinary havens offer not just great food, but an experience that transcends the ordinary—a chance to connect over flavors and conversations that make your time together all the more special.

    Dining Delights for Two

Ecco offers an elevated dining experience on Concourse F in the Mezzanine, where you and your partner can enjoy a refined menu of globally inspired dishes. The sleek, modern ambiance is perfect for an intimate dinner, whether you’re savoring a quiet moment before a flight or catching up after time apart. The menu is as diverse as the travelers who pass through, offering a range of options that cater to every palate.

Next, take a culinary journey to One Flew South, located at E Centerpoint. Known as one of the best airport restaurants in the world, this gem is a destination in itself. The restaurant blends Southern-inspired cuisine with global flavors, creating a dining experience that is both comforting and adventurous. Picture this: a shared plate of sushi, a glass of fine wine, and the soft buzz of airport life in the background—a setting that turns a simple meal into a truly unforgettable memory.

For those with a taste for Mediterranean flavors, Cat Cora on Concourse A provides a welcoming escape. Founded by the first female Iron Chef, this restaurant serves up delicious, wholesome dishes that are perfect for a health-conscious couple on the go. The light, airy space, coupled with a menu that features fresh, locally sourced ingredients, makes it an ideal spot to relax and refuel before your next adventure.

    A Date with Adventure

ATL isn’t just about food; it’s also about the experience. After your dinner, take a stroll through the Airport’s many art installations. With over 1,000 artworks in one of the largest public art sites in the Southeastern U.S., there is plenty to explore. Or maybe do  some shopping. Whether you’re picking out a last-minute gift or simply window shopping, ATL offers a variety of stores to suit every need and occasion.

If your date night involves a layover, consider exploring the Airport’s lounges, where you can enjoy a quiet moment. These spaces offer a chance to unwind, sip on a cocktail and plan your next destination together.

    The Perfect Send-Off

Ending a date at the Airport doesn’t have to mean goodbye. Whether it’s a shared dessert or a last-minute photo in front of an iconic installation such as “Flight Paths” by Steve Waldeck in the Transportation Mall between concourses A and B, these small moments can be just as meaningful as the grandest of gestures. Hartsfield-Jackson proves that even in travel, love can flourish.

So next time you’re planning a date, why not think outside the box—or in this case, the concourse? With its vast array of dining options, shops, and experiences, ATL might just become your new favorite date-night destination.

  • Cheat Eats at ATL

    Cheat Eats at ATL

    By: Tim Turner

You’re on vacation and the envy of everyone who isn’t. While you’re taking a break from work, should you also give yourself a break from workouts and your diet regimen, too?

The answer is yes. The answer is always going to be yes.

Introducing a cheat day can make dieting more sustainable. Your diet requires flexibility to help you stay focused and motivated.

Having a cheat day or weekend after working hard all winter and spring to get in vacation shape is not only acceptable, but it can also be beneficial. A break from constantly monitoring your calorie deficit can have positive mental and physiological effects. Some experts say it isn’t likely to undo all the progress you’ve made.

For those traveling in and out of Hartsfield-Jackson, the good news is that cheat day options abound. And if you feel you need to have some kind of restriction relative to what you eat, cheat day purchases have been restricted to only the days that end in Y. Here are a few.

Grindhouse Killer Burgers (Concourse D, T)

Make those calories count! When you sit down for a burger here, you’re treating yourself to an exceptional burger experience. It owes its success – and flavor – to its blend of ground beef. Prepared to your liking (mine was a cheeseburger well, with provolone cheese), paired with your choice of non-alcoholic beverages or adult ones at a full-service bar with its cocktails and beers.

    IHOP (Atrium)

Surely, you’ve heeded the suggested arrival time of two hours prior to your domestic flight. You’ve checked security wait times on our webpage and see you have a few minutes to spare and are starved. You can get your breakfast fix and be a part of history with a meal at the first IHOP location ever built in an airport. The menu that has been tempting cheat days for six decades does not disappoint. Their chicken and waffles meal makes an excellent way to start your vacation.

    GOLDBERG’S (Concourse T, A)

You are on the opposite side of security now. Before heading to your gate, you want to experience a taste of New York. You get that in Goldbergs, where bagel options (mine was cinnamon raisin with plain cream cheese), lox, and sandwiches are plentiful.

    Uncle Maddio’s (Concourse T)

You’ve denied yourself a pie. No more. If you’ve got a bit of time before boarding, you cannot go wrong with Uncle Maddio’s. The pizza is made fresh in front of you. You pick your crust, cheese, and toppings, and they get it to you in time to enjoy it before taking off. A really great selection is their Classic Margherita.

Pieces of Cake (Concourse A Centerpoint)

If you’re going to stop eating clean, this is the place to get downright dirty. The desserts are fresh, fast, and fantastic, and there is an assortment to satisfy every taste. Their slices are huge. A fav is their Strawberry slice loaded with actual fruit, and they do not scrimp on the icing.

    laMadeleine (Concourse C)

The no-wait, self-serve center for gourmet sandwiches is perfect for those who really want a quick, quality bite before their flight.

    Hudson (Concourse F Centerpoint)

If you’re feeling guilty about indulging on your cheat day, pop in to this Maynard H. Jackson International Concourse powerhouse. It has everything you need to prepare for your flight. For those who still have a twinge of guilt over starting their cheat day before wheels up, there are protein products throughout the middle of this massive store. A healthy variety of juices, fruits, nuts, and sandwiches (I had a massive turkey sandwich with BBQ chicken skin chips) abound in this grab-and-go wonderland.

You needn’t apologize for giving in to the temptations of the incredible fare offered at ATL. After all, you were on a break.
